Sydney Australia is one of the most visited cities in the world. Located on the picturesque Sydney Harbour Bay, is home to some of Australia’s most photographed and iconic attractions. There is a good range of Sydney accommodation available but as this is always a major expense we have put together a list of free attractions and activities in Sydney to help save few dollars.
Sydney Harbour Bridge Walk
Known by Sydney residents as ‘The Coathanger’ you can walk (as opposed to climb) across the Sydney Harbour Bridge. There are spectacular views from the Bridge and great photo opportunities of Circular Quay and the Sydney Opera House.
Art Gallery of New South Wales
Centrally located in Sydney’s Domain the Art Gallery of New South Wales is open daily from 10am to 5pm. Admission is free, Charges may apply to special exhibitions. The Gallery contains important collections of Australian, European and Asian art.
Museum of Contemporary Art
Located on Sydney Harbours West Circular Quay the Sydney Museum of Contemporary Art is dedicated to exhibiting and collecting contemporary art from across Australia and around the world. Admission to the Museum is free and there are also free daily guided tours.
Australian National Maritime Museum
Entry to the Museum’s galleries and exhibitions is free though charges do apply to board the onsite vessels HM Bark Endeavour, HMAS Vampire, HMAS Onslow (submarine) and the 1974 barque James Craig. The Museum is located at 2 Murray Street, Darling Harbour (just under the Pyrmont Bridge).
